Mr. Schmelter was born in Savannah, Georgia. RJ earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia. He then attended the Eastern Virginia Medical School and earned a Master of Surgical Assisting degree.

RJ currently practices in Savannah, Georgia, and specializes in Minimally Invasive and Robotics, and Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.

RJ has earned his boat captain’s license, and enjoys saltwater fishing, freediving, and spearfishing.
